Step 1 – Understand that everyone is a sinner.
There are no perfect people. Romans 3:10 says, “As it is written, there is none righteous, no, not one.” The reason no one is righteous is found in Romans 3:23, “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” Even had you only sinned once in your entire life, you would still be a sinner.
Step 2 – Understand that payment must be made for your sins.
If you have a job, you are paid wages. Your wage is the price for which you work. In Romans 6:23a God says, “For the wages of sin is death…” This death is described in the Bible as the second death; the lake of fire. “And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.” (Revelation 20:14-15) If you pay for your own sin, you will die and go to Hell where you will be tormented eternally.
Step 3 – Believe that Jesus Christ paid for your sins.
Without God’s love we would be lost forever. Romans 5:8 says, “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” The price for our sins was paid by Jesus Christ when he died on the cross! He took our sins upon Himself and shed His blood to pay for the wrong which we had done. He suffered in our place because of how much He loved us.
Step 4 – Accept, by faith, God’s free gift of eternal life.
Many people know about the death of Jesus on the cross, but they have never accepted what Christ did as payment for their sins. God’s gift to us is eternal life. Romans 6:23b states, “…but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” A gift cannot be purchased or worked for; it can only be received.
Wouldn’t you like to receive God’s free gift of eternal life?
If so, please continue to read – it will change your life forever!
Would you be willing to accept the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ as payment for your sins? According to Romans 10:9, 10, and 13, it is a decision that is made from your heart and confessed with your mouth.
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord SHALL be saved.”
If you believe what God has said about eternal life and you are willing to receive Christ as your personal Saviour, pray this simple prayer and mean it from your heart:
“Dear Jesus, I know that I am a sinner, and I deserve to go to Hell. I believe you died on the cross for me, and today I trust you as my personal Saviour. Please forgive me for my sins and save me from Hell. Thank you for giving me eternal life. Amen.”
